First, is English you second language? You should first ask your guidance counselor about this and find out if there is a common sense reason to take it. If that is not helpful, then it is time for your parents to have a conference with the school.

It may not have anything to do with being "dumber." The school may want you to take it because you are smart and you help their test scores look good. Schools often get money and grants based upon how many students are enrolled in a program and that may have something to do with it in your case. Maybe they are eligible for more money if they have more kids who can pass the test.

The same happens in Los Angeles Unified Schools. Students are tested yearly until they score "proficient" on the test.

It has nothing to do with smarts, just what your home language is listed as. What is your state law? You might be able to find the answer from the Alabama Department of Education. Try a search.

In LA Parents have a right to see your records -- all of them. Parents should have the right to refuse testing, unless your state allows it.
