Sometimes English is English literature. Sometimes it is grammar and spelling and tools like that. It is also reading and writing - and thinking. It is often called Composition. Most of the differences are at high school level. In elementary, it is more learning to read and spelling and learning grammar, important bases to all English.

Good luck. sweet.caroline

TESOL is or ESL is teaching English to students whose native language is not English.

An English degree is usually teaching English language and/or literature to English speakers. It sounds as though you are more interested in teaching English to English speakers. avenir1961
