Konnichiwa, Chris-san

Your tomodachi (friend) could work for a trading company, do translating (for a company or self-employed, there are even freelance websites she could use to work from home), teach kokugo (Japanese), Japanese travel agency, offer childcare, au pair, etc, etc.

There are many opportunities.

Gambatte, ne!
(Good luck!)

What does she like to do? Check with the local University or college and they may have an opening in their ESL department. OSU (Oregon) has a large Japanese student base and a large ESL.
Otherwise, I would suggest any sort of retail, and not to sound goofy or rude, but maybe at a Japanese Ethnic restaurant? (though it doesn't sound like a job I would really like)
