My age wasn't an issue, I had a teaching degree so that was more important to them. I haven't been able to work overseas again since then as I've had 2 children, but have had no trouble back in Australia getting jobs teaching literacy or ESL to adult migrants and Aboriginal students. I think the course is definitely worth it as you learn so many relevant practical skills. It is not easy though, I found it very demanding and was up to at least midnight every night doing assignments and preparing lessons. For a month it's worth putting up with. One of the guys in my group failed. They are pretty fussy and picky actually (the course lecturers) but they have to maintain a standard. If you are going to do it make sure you don't have anything else going on in your life at the time as it will require total commitment if you want to do well. I took the course and thoroughly enjoyed it, but I wish the school had explained the age bias in foreign countries. If you're over 35, good luck getting any work in Asia. Severe age bias, especially in Japan. European countries ask for at least a Bachelor's degree and favor British speakers over Americans. I wish I'd looked at this site before I took the class: The answer depends on your age.
