Is it plausible to find a job teaching English in Mongolia without TESOL certification?

Yes, it is possible. There are many language centers in Ulaanbaatar and I’m sure they would hire some native speaker, if you’re one, as a conversation teacher or lecturer. I’m not sure with the pay, but don’t expect much. So best place to start look for would be those language centers and even some of the smaller private colleges might be willing to take an advantage of the native speaker.
When you search for a job it’s better to have an idea of of how you are going to teach, and what you think would be the best way to teach foreigners. So if they ask at least you will have some systematic plan for your teaching method. It doesn’t have to be sophisticated, just simple one that could persuade them that you’re worth hiring.

Yes, it is possible. Of course, though, the certificate will help with securing a job more easily and will of course help you in your teaching!
You will probably find it easiest to get work in Ulaanbaatar where a full-time job will bring in around 800 USD per month with accommodation provided by the school. There are plenty of small local language schools but also a few modern schools for those in business.
To find work you can try the two weekly English language newspapers in UB: the UB Post and the Mongol Messenger. Joe
