If you're here on an E-2 visa, then it's illegal, whether schools allow it or not. Officials are very strict regarding this law, and if caught you will be deported. I have an F-2 visa (because I'm married to a Korean), which made me eligible to teach private lessons, but I was still required to get a license through the Department of Education before I could start teaching legally.
