Textbook Publishers are not making ESL modified Chemistry books. ESL students only reach Chemistry with basic skills met. I teach in Las Vegas with a high ESL population. Our students have to pass Biology and Algebra I to take Chemistry. To tell you the truth Chemistry is so abstract that all students would benefit from ESL strategies.

Check with your co-workers in the special education department...they have the same issue.

My co-workers and I have actually spent a considerable amount of time summarizing and typing a "friendly" version of the H.S. texts because the readability level is too high.

Many of the textbook companies will send free samples for you to review. Depending on what your particular state's chem frameworks are, you should pick a book to meet your needs. Many of them will send a limited number of Spanish resources and books if you request them with your order. You may have to order additional copies as well.
