Some universities have internship programs that could be quite benenficial in gaining experience before taking the plunge. Each state has different requirements, but any reputable teaching credential college will be able to guide him/her and will have the most up-to-date information on what's necessary. If he/she just wants to teach casually to adults in night school, it's likely that all he/she needs is a college degree. He/She should contact his/her local Adult Education office and find out. As for the job outlook for the teaching profession, it is very good. Teaching is a tough, stressful, politically-charged job that does not pay well in comparison to someone in another field with the same level of education and experience.
