To teach English in the States is Trinity TESOL better than Cambridge CELTA? What are the international locations where a Trinity TESOL course can be done? Thanks

If you want to teach English in the States then you probably shouldn’t do either of those courses because:

    1. These courses are for teachers who wish to teach foreign students who are learning English as a second language - TESOL - (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages) or TEFL - (Teaching English to Foreign Learners).

    2. CELTA - Cambridge University
    Trinity TESOL - Oxford University

They are both courses that focus on ‘British English’ and although they are both respected (well the Cambridge CELTA is more highly respected as people who have it often start with a higher salary), your American students won’t want to learn British English. American and British English have different spellings, pronunciation and different grammar(sometimes).

Your best bet is to directly contact or email the schools you’re interested in teaching at - and simply ask them what qualifications would you need to work there.

You can register at any British Council.Exams are usually give at the same location or you may go abroad to the UK to do the exams. You can get all the information you need at the council.
