How do you explain the concept of rights (as in freedom is a right)to ESL students?

Chinese students studying for the naturalization exam are having a hard time with the word “right” as it is used in the BIll of Rights,” for example. Any ideas on how to convey its definition? They are still struggling with basic English.

    Perhaps you could begin with the use of the word *freedoms*. that word is generally recognized.

    tell them to use dictionary
    right is you can do anything you want not right or wrong
