Has anyone worked in Korea as an ESL teacher and what was your experience?

Is there a possibility to rent just a room or are there accommodations for teachers or expats that are reasonably priced. I am going there soon and don’t know if my stipend will cover the high cost of living. I want to be able to take advantage of cultural activities in the city and not be stranded far away to make it more affordable.

Pay is lousy and the accomodations are not up to US standards. If you go make sure that you have a bail out clause in your contract. A lot of people really regret going and getting stuck on a contract. My advise would be to go over and look over where you are going to be teaching and see if you can handle the accomodations before signing any contract.
