Do you need to have a college degree to be an ESL teacher in another country?

In most countries you do need to have a 4 year degree to be able to teach. There are a few exceptions to that. I teach in South Korea and to get an E-2 you have to have a 4 year degree from an accredittied school. The same is true in Japan I believe. Generally those are the two countries that pay the best in terms of salary and benefits as well. If you have a 4 yr degree AND a TESOL or CELTA certificate that will help. A major in education will help even further. milwaukiedave
