I am not sure about overseas, but in the US, a teacher’s salary is usually based on the degree they hold as well as the number of years of experience. A teacher with a Master’s Degree will start out with a higher salary than a teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree.

Yes, and no. It is unlikely that an esl teacher will get paid more for the same classes, however if the school gives them higher level classes or a promotion as a result of their masters degree, then certainly they can expect greater compensation.
Basically, ESL schools pay what they pay based on the money they generate from the classes, and whether you have a high school diploma or a PHD if you are teaching a general communication english class, you are still generating the same income for them, thus you are technically of no greater value.
An esl teacher with a masters degree has greater opportunities open to them, better universities, better schools, etc, which also most often carry better pay.
So, if you earn your masters, you’ll have to make additional changes to make additional income.
I’ve heard six figures and above is available in the Middle East, and South Korea will have 30-60$ an hour posts by the dozen for anyone with a masters in education.
