When I was in China I was impressed with how enthusiastic young people seem to be to learn English…On the list of academic priorities, where would Chinese students place learning how to speak and write in English? Is this ability required for university entrance exams and/or to get a good job? And I see lots of info on private schools for English in China, do students feel such extra tutoring is necessary?

Like how many hours do you normally work, how much is the pay, do you recieve any benefits from the school you are working in, etc. I may go there to teach once I get my B.A. in Elementary Education (K-8) and my Teaching English As A Forgien Language Certificate in 2 1/2 years if my husband doesn’t get accepted for his Ph D in USA. My husband is thinking of applying to universities in China for his Ph. D.

I want to teach English in Shanghai so badly but I don’t know whether me and my wife should just go to shanghai on a tourist visa and cahnge visa status once I get there and find a job or just apply for a job online and start getting a work visa and start as soon as I get there. I want to go this summer, what times do they hire for summer? How much can I earn in Shanghai teaching English? I want alteast a salary of 8,000 RMB a month plus a furnished apartment.
