I have a BS in English Education, an endorsement in ESOL, and a stellar GPA and cannot find a job for the life of me. Teachers are being cut left and right. That said, you need to do whatever you can to make your resume look better than the five people you'll be going up against when you apply for a job as an ESL teacher. A Masters will certainly set you above a lot of the contenders. Besides, as part of your continuing education, you'll be required to get a Masters anyway to continue teaching, so why not do it now while your young and already in school. Once you are ready to find a job, look in rural towns (particulary the south-- GA, FL, etc.), where a lot of hispanic families live and big cities, where you will likely encounter a large percentage of Asian students. Good luck. If you're going to be a teacher, the best field you can be in is ESL, ESE, math or science, so you're on the right track.

I would get the degree. It is actually pretty hard because of the economy to get any job right now, so everyone is relying on teaching. I think there is a lot of new schools in texas that need lots of teachers! Check out Fort Worth Or Dallas for a teaching job! I know my son said that all the esl teachers at his school CMS are retiring. I would not go and teach highschool!
