Can a Esl teacher in China have a live in girlfriend?

Do most ESL schools in China, that provide free housing, allow you to have a girlfriend live there with you? I am currently in the Philippines with a Filipino girlfriend. I know it depends from school to school, but does anyone have experience in this matter? I am thinking about living in Beijing.

I know a few people that do, but I’m not sure if they are supposed to. I do know a few couples that came together (both are Western) and they got housing together. My school wouldn’t allow it, and since we have to go through the front gate, it would be pretty obvious if we tried doing it anyway. Some places don’t actually offer a house, just give you more money, that might be your best bet. apuleuis
