Vivienne asked: Hi~ i posted a similar question before.
I am a high school student who speaks Chinese.
I was asked to tutor 3 high school ESL students of my age, they are Chinese who does not speak English at all.
They want me to come every weekend for 3 or 4 hours…
I really want to know how much I should charge them per hour. Is $15 sounds OK? I have no experience and have no confidence in myself at all!
Please help me!

Charlie asked: In Canada we have both colleges and universities which offer a wide range of learning opportunities, here in Canada I am in College and currently in College and I am going to receive a 3 year advanced diploma which is equivalent to a 3 year pass degree from a University, would this be suffice enough to teach english in Korea?

Ouch My Knee asked: I am graduating from college with a Major in German language studies and a minor in ESL (English as a Second Language). Next year I will be teaching English in Germany. I need to decide what I want to go to Grad school for before next fall. I want to get my doc. so that I can teach at the college level. I can’ decide which I want to do. Anyone have any pros/cons for either? Or have experiences involving anything related to this.

Gary B asked: I have just volunteered to take over a class from an experienced ESL teacher. Yikes! I have some lesson plans from esl-images.com and some other information. I am looking for good, practical advice to get started teaching classes. I am not a teacher by profession but have taught internal courses for my companies before. Good ESL web sites are welcome too.
Sorry, I should have added this detail originally. This is an ESL class at my church that I am volunteering to teach. We get almost all adults, primarily from central America. The current teacher is certified as a teacher and teacher trainer, but is going on maternity. She will be spending some time with me to train me, but at this point I am needing all the help I can get!
Here is a good book that I’ve recently checked out of the library: Teach Yourself Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
http://www.teachyourself.co.uk/ltefl.htm
He’s got a lot of good stuff for people like me. I bet even teachers with some experience will benefit from this book too.
